What Makes It "Wireline"
A wireline directional drill pipe carries a conductor through the centre of the string. Downhole survey instruments send their readings back along that conductor instead of relying on a wireless link, which is what makes steering reliable in deep, crowded coal-mine boreholes where signal transmission is the hardest part of the job. The core is built for low conductive resistance and high insulation resistance, so the signal arrives clean.
Thread and Sealing
The thread form is designed around two requirements that pull in opposite directions: enough strength to take the torque of directional work, and enough sealing to keep the conductor dry. Custom threads are accepted where a rig or a project calls for them.
Structure Options
Supplied in friction-welded or integral construction. Friction-welded pipe lets the tool joint and the tube be treated independently; integral pipe removes the weld from the joint entirely. High-strength material and a lightweight design keep the string manageable at depth.
Where It Works
Directional drilling and gas drainage boreholes in coal mines, and other downhole work where surveyed position has to be known continuously rather than estimated.
Where It Ships
Supplied to customers in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a wireline directional drill pipe?
It is a drill pipe with a conductor running through its centre, so downhole survey instruments can send readings back through the string instead of over a wireless link. This gives more reliable steering in deep boreholes.
What sizes are available?
73 mm and 89 mm in the current range, in S135 steel grade. Full wall thickness, profile and length data is in the table on this page.
Can the threads be customised?
Yes. Custom threads are accepted, and both friction-welded and integral structures are available.
What is the minimum order and lead time?
Standard minimum order is 10 pieces, with a lead time of 10 days. Special specifications are made to order.
