Two Tubes, Two Jobs
In reverse circulation drilling the sample comes back up the centre of the string while air or fluid goes down the annulus between the two tubes. That means a dual-wall pipe has to do two things at once: survive the abrasion of cuttings travelling at speed through the inner tube, and hold pressure in the outer tube without leaking.
Material and Heat Treatment
Both tubes are made from high-strength alloy material and heat treated, which is what gives long inner and outer tube life rather than one tube outlasting the other and stranding the pipe.
Seals
Seals are made to KISN's own specification rather than bought in. A worn seal turns the annulus into a leak path and the sample stops coming up cleanly, so seal life is one of the main things that decides how long a string stays in service. Custom seals are used to extend that life and reduce leakage.
Interchangeability
Inner and outer tubes are machined to precision, which allows universal interchangeability between tubes. In practice this means a damaged inner tube can be replaced without scrapping the outer, and components from different batches will still assemble.
