Product Details
Where a friction-welded string joins two pieces of steel, an integral drill pipe is forged as one. The tool joint and the tube come from a single billet, with a smooth forged transition running from the joint into the pipe body — no weld line, no heat-affected zone at the connection. KISN integral drill pipe is made in tube outside diameters from 42 mm (1.66 in) to 89 mm (3.50 in).
Integral or Friction-Welded?
Both are used on HDD rigs, and the choice usually follows the job. Integral pipe removes the weld from the equation entirely, which suits contractors who have been burned by joint failures or who run tight curves where the transition is worked hardest. Friction-welded pipe reaches larger diameters and lets the tool joint and the tube be heat treated independently. Tell us your rig and bore profile and we will say which one fits.
Forged Transition Zone
The transition from tool joint to tube is forged rather than machined, so the wall thickness changes gradually. A gradual change spreads stress instead of concentrating it at a sharp step, which is what limits fatigue life in small-diameter strings.
Material and Inspection
The full-length body is quenched and tempered with a refined grain structure for fatigue resistance and service life. Every pipe is inspected before it leaves the floor.
Where It Ships
Supplied to contractors in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between integral and friction-welded drill pipe?
Integral pipe is forged as one piece, so there is no weld in the joint. Friction-welded pipe joins a separate tool joint to the tube by friction welding. Both are used on HDD rigs; the right choice depends on diameter, curve severity and your maintenance history.
What sizes are available?
Tube OD from 42 mm (1.66 in) to 89 mm (3.50 in). The size and torque table is on this page.
Which threads can be supplied?
ZX40, ZX50, ZX60 and ZX80, plus NC23, NC26 and NC31 on the larger sizes.
What is the minimum order and lead time?
Standard minimum order is 10 pieces, with a lead time of 10 days. Special specifications are made to order.
