What the Swivel Does
Between the reamer and the towed product, the swivel takes the rotation out of the pull. The rotating shaft turns with the drill string while the body stays fixed, so the pipeline, duct or cable behind it is pulled without being twisted. A swivel that runs rough or binds puts that torque into the product instead.
